You know James Joyce, I have Ulysses (Odysamoi) written all over me!: A poem

Give me the Taurus of Ulysses though I don’t spite Aquarius

Give me the Sagittarius of Ulysses not the Pisces

Then I’d accept the moniker Ulysses, though I prefer Odysamoi!

I believe the Romans habitually perversified Greek titles!

You know, I adulated Hercules, untill I learnt he killed lions

and mythic heroes know more difficulty and grief than just 12 Labours!

Sometimes, heroes and warriors have to keep struggling, though no labourers are they!

I am not prone to recommend Hercules for slaughtering lions, in any case!

Though he indulged in this act because the Leonine age was nearing end!

And I swear by the Minotaur who, himself, was slain when the Age of Taurus ended!

The mazenine around him was meant to trap worthless Sapiens Man anyway!

You can say I’ve had knowledge, craft, and wherewithal for all eternity

Divine guidance, strength, courage, resilience, patience, sagacity, and ultimate providence!

You can say I’ve had more faculties than all the warriors aboard the massive Trojan Horse put together!

You know by the apex Olympus, my son Jupiter knows that too well!

I never read the Ulysses, but I can resolutely tell James Joyce

That I am more of a warrior than all of Agamemmon’s boys!
